2011 Midwest Student Fisheries Colloquium

Hello everyone,

As you may know, the 4th Annual Midwest Student Fisheries Colloquium is fast approaching (January 21-22, 2011).  We (South Dakota State University Student sub-unit AFS) have been working hard to put together an excellent meeting, and currently we are looking to get a hold on how many attendees and presenters we will be having there.  At this point, we should be able to offer lodging to anyone that can make it out to Brookings for the meeting (along with all meals during the meeting).  We hope to encourage participation by keeping meeting costs as low as possible for attendees.  The meeting will include dinner and a social on Friday evening featuring two excellent speakers, followed by the student symposium on Saturday.  The meeting is an excellent opportunity for undergraduate or graduate students to present their research (even if it is in the preliminary phase) to others in a relaxed environment and get feedback/ideas from other students from across the Midwest.  We encourage both oral and poster presentations.

If you are interested in attending, please let me know so that we can plan accordingly.  Just send me a quick email and either mail in the registration fees ($15, address below)) or arrange some type of payment agreement with me.  In addition, if anyone would like to present, let me know and we can get you situated to do so.  Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions you might have regarding the colloquium.

Thanks much and look forward to hearing from many of you,

Luke Schultz
2011 Midwest Student Fisheries Colloquium Coordinator
